Most intraoral cameras can rotate, magnify, show real-time footage of your exam, and snap images. Dentists often use intraoral cameras to record dental issues. The images Dr. Brett takes inside your mouth during the procedure can be stored in your patient file. Later on, Dr. Brett can compare those images to a more recent exam, checking for changes in a dental situation.
As a patient, you will get to view the footage or images taken using an intraoral camera. This allows you to see exactly what Dr. Brett sees when it comes to your dental health. He will look over the images with you, point out any oral health problems he's found, and discuss potential treatment options, if necessary.
As an added benefit, the images taken with an intraoral camera during an exam may be used to bolster a dental insurance claim, if necessary. Dental insurance companies sometimes request proof of your dental condition before they'll agree to cover a procedure, and an image of the issue itself can help make your insurance claim.
